Fugro has a long history of contributing generously to various cultural and educational establishments in the communities within which we work. For example, Fugro Norway sponsors Barratt Due’s Institute for Music. Barratt Due is a well-known Norwegian musical education centre for young talent with the motto: “From nursery school to concert podium”.
Another area that Fugro Norway feels a strong responsibility to support is the education of new scientists in the areas in which we operate. Fugro wants to motivate young people to study science and to pursue technology and knowledge-based careers. The sponsorship of the Jurassic paleontological excavation project at Svalbard by the Natural History Museum at the University of Oslo is a prime example of this. This project has already resulted in the most significant Jurassic discovery ever made in the Arctic, the fossil of “Predator X”, a huge carnivorous killer of the ancient seas.
In December 2008, the employees and management of Fugro Norway decided that the money usually used for company Christmas gifts to employees should be given to Norway’s Society for the Blind, a national organization for the blind and sight disabled. Through this Christmas gift, Fugro is contributing to the training of puppies to become guide dogs for the blind.
Also 2009 Fugro chose to continue supporting the most vulnerable members of our society. To continue good tradition started last year, instead of purchasing a Company Christmas present for each employee, Fugro makes a donation on your behalf to a charity. This year, Fugro chose to directly support training centre for guide dogs.
